Registration for LYRA is now live at yachtscoring.com. Please note that participants need to register for the course racing and distance races separately. But once you register for one event the program will automatically input your data into the next event.
As I previously mentioned we have a very special surprise announcement for the 2010 LYRA regatta. Through the connections of Peter Huston we were able to convince the current US Sailing President and past Americas' Cup winning tactician Gary Jobson to make a special guest appearance at Friday night's festivities for this year's LYRA regatta being held at The Buffalo Yacht Club. Gary will be our guest announcer along with the BYCs own Tim Hunt for a special charity mini match race we will be hosting. The format will be very lose and conducted directly in front of the BYC club house. Each LYRA affiliated yacht club will be invited to sponsor as many competitors as they wish to enter. The fee is $100 per entry with all proceeds going to the Leukemia Society. We will use the clubs Tech Dinghy's, which are a one person boat, that will sail in a sudden death format, starting after Fridays course racing with racing on Saturday if needed. This should be a unique and very fun event.
More LYRA news to follow as it becomes available. Maybe it's time to mark your calendar and rustle up the crew. Founders and Centennial start 7/27/10; Freeman 7/28/10. 3day Course racing 7/30-8/1 and 2 day course racing 7/31-8/1.
